University of Brighton: Planned Closure of Hastings Campus

Here are a couple of links to campaigning against the University of Brighton’s proposal to close the Hastings campus of the university:

Below is a motion going to the Brighton & Hove District Labour Party meeting on Saturday 16th April. If you’re a member of the Labour Party in Brighton & Hove please attend the meeting and support this motion:

“This Labour Party branch notes the University of Brighton Senior Management Team and Board of Governors’ decision to wind down the Hastings campus over the next two years leading to closure in 2018 putting jobs at risk and disrupting students’ education.  This Labour Party branch condemns this decision as reflective of a business ethos at the heart of Higher Education which turns its back on the mission of the university in widening participation, creating opportunities, community engagement and civic responsibility.  This branch supports the call from the Hastings and Rye Labour Party for the University to give clearer indication of their plans, reconsider their decision to close the campus and give genuine reassurance to staff, students and the community in Hastings by honouring its commitment to contributing to regeneration of the town.”
